Retirement in Montpellier

Centerville

I and my wife will be visiting Montpelier this coming Fall. Hopefully, we will love the city and consider living there in retirement. All comments and opinions are welcome.

Hello Centerville,

Welcome on board !

Is it your first visit to Montpellier ? Just curious to know why you chose this city ?

All the best

We are looking for a CITY, not too big and not too small which offers cultural and educational opportunities. Proximity to the water means a lot to us. Walkability is important as well. Good public transportation  too.  Thank you for answering.

And another thought -- demographics. Montpellier is young because of  the universities in the area. On the one hand, t is always better for older adults to be surrounded by younger people than their own peers. On the other hand, there should be a great community of those who teach these young people!

I'm sure there's plenty to keep you busy in Montpellier. It is very positive to see that you have an open mind about the city.  I am not sure Montpellier is a popular destination for expats, but you will surely find students and professionals.
