Mortgages in France for self-employed

CKPhotography

Hi there,
I'm a freelancer currently based in the UK but thinking of moving to France, and I was wondering what I would need to do in order to be eligable for a mortgage from a French bank?

For instance, will 3 years of tax returns to HMRC suffice, or will they want fully audited accounts from an accountant?

On moving, gaining residency, and paying into the French system, are there likely to be any other challenges I face being self-employed?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Hi,

It is difficult to answer for a bank.

The majority of French banks will ask you to have a French account where you will pay your financial income. They will ask you to sign a contract giving them access to your bank account in order to make a seizure if you do not pay ...

So if you continue your activities from England, it would be better to ask for an English bank.

Thank you for this - it's good to know.

Everywhere I read it is stated that 3 years of audited accounts are required - whether UK or French banks, so I guess tax-returns are not accepted.

Take care.
