What do I need for my working permit in Finland

Ben a British guy

Hello there,

I have a job in the Helsinki area and just need to sort out my permit application but wondered what others in the same position has submitted for their application.

I know that the Migri site has some listed pieces of items to submit, but in my case, I am being given a contract of work from my employer and just want to know how much more I would need besides the usual Passport, passport photo, this "Form MP_" and my flight ticket. There is also that TEM 0.54 form that I have asked my employer to fill out too and the taxes report.

But yes, what has someone done for their permit application on top of that? It is super confusing for me with it being my first time, and I did miss some chance to stay as a member of the EU due to just missing the Withdrawal agreement window, but now that I have been accepted for a job, I just want to action it right away.

Any help is appreciated :)

Thanks

Hi Ben,

Congratulations on the job. I can't offer much insight only that I've put my application through for a residency permit 2 months ago and I'm still waiting for any response.
I needed the usual passport, proof of funds etc but sounds like you got the list.
I'm currently trying to secure employment so any tips would be greatly appreciated.

Best of

Ben

Hello Ben,

I would definitely say to get some more Finnish language skills up whilst you wait, it has been the big stopping point from me trying to get employed before, I am still going to be working on it now as well.

The one part I did find out is that you can have a remote job at home, to whatever company will take you back in the old country where you were, its helps with the proof of funds part.

Hi Ben,

Sorry, with regard to the remote job aspect I think I’ve not understood you correctly?

What does that mean as part of the application and working in Finland?

Thanks

Ben
