Well, it really depends on whether you'll be coming round to London as a student or whether you have a job ready. When I first arrived, my main concern was looking for suitable accommodation. The Canadian dollar won't be strong here, so try to save as much money as you can. Also, try and familiarize yourself (by maps) with the main areas in London. Accommodation, transportation, and food will be your main concerns. You can rent a flat, which is more expensive or you can share a flat. And depending on where you live that will determine how much you pay. The closer to central London you get the more expensive your rent will be. Food prices are good; Tesco being the largest supermarket here. And as for transport, the buses are much cheaper to use than the trains, though it will take longer to get around, in the in you'll be saving money.
