Pacemaker Support Query

Kevin Thompson

Hi, just before Christmas I had to have a pacemaker fitted at Papworth. I’ve also been given a communicator which downloads information from the pacemaker which gets sent to Papworth if the pacemaker detects any issues, or if Papworth request an update.

We’re still planning on moving to Cyprus at some point and I was wondering if anyone had experience of having a pacemaker in Cyprus and what support is available (checkups, replacement etc) and if this is covered by healthcare (GESY) or not?

@Kevin Thompson I do not have a pacemaker but do have an implanted monitor. Someone else might know for sure about the pacemaker but I can say that the monitor I have which uses the mobile network to send data to Barts worked without a hitch when I pugged it in here in Cyprus. Barts did tell me before I came it would work but I was a bit sceptical.
