Ensure planning permission is obtained as property is classed as an internal space and external covered areas ie closing off a carport requires planning  permission - point of contact for all property questions is Nigel Howarth and lots of useful information at

Thank you for the reply. We are battling with out internet at the moment, due to  be connected next week so trying to do things on the phone 😃.

Need a solution we have a huge problem with pigeons and the mess they are making on the veranda. Husband has gone into Rambo mode, not a pretty site in a 60 year old, so far loud clapping and shouting! We have put shade netting up but not pretty and a temp measure which they are already finding ways in. So looking for something that brings the hubby's blood pressure down and looks good.

Does your property already have title deeds, if so, it is not easy as basically you will need to submit complete new building permit application, if no title deeds (completion certificate). easier as you only need to amend the current building permit, best to get an architect onboard to clarify situation

In the meantime, why don't you get a net, that does not require any permission because it's not a fixed structure.
