Recommendations for couriering an ipad to Plovdiv from Portugal

AshAdu

Hi there

We are at Porto airport. We are flying to Sofia on Saturday & then onto Plovdiv for a month.

We connect via Barcelona for 3 nights (Portugal is not the best connected place to Bulgaria).

Anyhow I have realised that I have left my iPad at the housesit we were finishing in Central Portugal.

Does anyone have positive experiences with a reasonably priced courier service?  I was also wondering if the Portuguese post with a tracking number might be sensible as at least it is all in the EU.

I don't mind if I have to go somewhere in Plovdiv to fetch it rather than it actually being delivered to our airbnb.  What a pain!

Thanks so much

& I have really been enjoying reading all the varied posts on this board

@AshAdu

I would say you have two choices...   DHL or DPD,  both are well served in Bulgaria, although DPD is more preferable, as they are partnered with Speedy in Bulgaria, who have many collection offices everywhere in the country.  If you use DPD, it will get delivered to a local Speedy office nearby your address.

Just go to the Speedy Office with your id (ID card or passport).  When you have it sent, make sure the value declared is a secondhand value, or you'll be paying heavy customs duty!

DHL are probably quicker, but they may ask you for EORI number (Economic Operators Registration and Identification number) which, if you haven't already got one, you'd have to apply for at a Customs Office.  Hence, I think DPD would be better.

Needless to say, package the item well, to avoid damage!

@AshAdu Reccy speedy or ekont. Local courier mobs are always cheaper. I know they do pick up everywhere in Europe.
