Family looking for friends in Austria.

Korobchuk

Hello everyone,

My name is Vitalii, I’m 45 years old and currently living in Cologne, Germany, with my family.

I’m originally from Ukraine, where I worked as a journalist for around 10 years. Between 2014 and 2018, I worked in Poland as a construction carpenter. Since 2018, I’ve been working in Cologne in the field of fire protection systems.

My wife is an ecologist by profession and currently works as a dental assistant. Our daughter is 14 and goes to school here in Cologne.

Over the past few years, we’ve visited Austria several times — especially the alpine regions — and completely fell in love with the country, its mountains, nature, and people.

We are now seriously considering moving to Austria, ideally to a rural area in Carinthia, Tyrol, or the Salzburg region.

I enjoy long-distance running (often 20 km or more) and would love to connect with people, make friends, and learn from others' experiences.

We’re particularly curious about:

– Small-scale chicken farming and selling eggs — is this realistic or feasible for newcomers?

– What are the legal and practical aspects of running a small tourism-related business, such as renting out rooms to visitors?

We’d be very grateful for any insights, advice, or simply a friendly conversation.

Warm regards from Cologne – and hopefully, see you in Austria!
