Well, it鈥檚 been only a day since the Governor announcement of an island wide curfew and lockdown.聽

The impact has been dramatic, most businesses are closed, no public gatherings, only gas stations, banks, grocery stores, medical facilities open.

The curfew from 9pm to 6 (?) am is being enforced.聽 We were told that yesterday the police were writing tickets for violations - $5000 fine and possible 6 months in jail !

Even the beaches are closed. But, I have to say that part defies logic - -聽 why is it illegal to walk a mostly deserted beach, when it is fine to shop Walmart or Sams club with customers packed together like sardines in a can?聽

What has been other people experience with the curfew?聽 Let鈥檚 hope it works to limit transmission of the virus.

Any word or guesses as to when it will be possible to return to the island and have businesses open?

That depends on the type of business and the risk to the people.
But flat out any business open no special considerations, that is not being discussed at all by the goverment

How are things doing now are some thing opening up? Are people recovering? What is the current number of infected and deaths?

Currently 2589 cases, 122 deaths.聽聽Getting anecdotal reports of many people not observing social distancing & wearing masks.

May 20th 2866 infected, 59 confirmed covid deaths, 66 deaths attributed to covid but not confirmed.
Out of 1100 ventilators, close to 900 are NOT in use.

Lockdown still in place some relaxation expected later in the week, beaches, rivers, parks still can not be used

Curfew, false tests and panic destroyed Puerto Rico economic. Hospitals are empty. Salud continue to use serological or antibody tests like test for virus. All reports about coronavirus are false. Molecular tests results come in 10 days from USA. Nobody know about virus. It was virus in Puerto Rico or not. 40 000 people live without electricity. Water turn off permanently. Hurricane season coming. Beaches are dirty. I checked the quality of water in Crash Boat. Found e.coli and fecal coliform. Dengue fever is 164 cases for one month. Influenza 20 000 cases. Very sad. Beautiful Island felt down. But thanks God sun shining yet. God bless Puerto Rico.
