Longest, not necessarily the best, beach

londonpride

In terms of ability to just walk for a long distance, what beach would you consider to be the longest, or in the top 3-4 longest. Doesn't have to be among the prettiest, or whatever other qualifier comes to mind, just distance is my q. Especially NW, West, South, and SE.

Not interested in the northeast coasts meaning close (50 kms) to SJ on the north or the east coasts but feel free to post about either for the sake of information and  good conversation; and I'm not interested in the island beaches which I know about but again, feel free.

Thanks

Okay....here is mine...not for the squeaky clean cars. It is called "Cucharas", This was designated a natural reserve a few yeas ago. It is a bit difficult to find and once you do it is about a mile long drive down a very rough and muddy road when it rains. There are a few fisherman shacks there that are grandfathered in. Usually there is no one here but once in while the will be fishermen and occasional swimmers. My guess is that the beach could be a couple miles long or at least a mile and one half. If you count from the mangroves to the end it would certainly be longer. The soil is more like earth mixed with sand and coral but it is hard. Very few rocks and usually a nice stiff breeze.

Blue Beach on Vieques. Also wonderfully beautiful.

What town?

Playa Ventanas in Guayanilla. Its called the window because of the shape the rock looks like a window to the ocean.

There is a very long stretch of beach where I used to live in Arroyo.  It was at my doorsteps, at the end of the road. The western end is at Punta Guillarte and the eastern end is at Patillas Airport. (A private airport).

Maybe check all these beaches out with google earth

Yep Mrkpytn, it is a great idea. I had noticed those stretches Froggie mentioned which along with those further west in Guayama and further north east @ Manaubo, Yabucoa. Really nice stretches, long.

Frogrock, how did you like living in Arroyo? Much different then Guayama, Manaubo or Yabucoa?  I'd guess not. but anything at all that comes to mind would be appreciated.

And though I am not a surfer, does the surf ever pick up along those shores? Every foto I've seen in those general areas shows calm waters.
