We are considering the move and working from home

Raffael C

Hi everyone,

My wife and are are researching moving to PR next year with our last two school age children. We're considering private school vs home school. In the states I taught special education math for 18yrs before moving on to coach track at the colligate level. Now we are considering the move and working from home.

Someone in the comments mentioned needing to be ok with no internet or power for long periods of time. Are there areas where this can be avoided? What do those that work online do in those situations?

We also have family in Arecibo so we're leaning towards the western side. Any suggestions would be great.

Hi Raffael,

I have been living on the island for well over 7 years and working remotely. It can be done. Invest in a generator or solar and buy a hot spot from the states as a backup to your regular Liberty cable service. I live in Hatillo and have Liberty my hot spot is Verizon from Texas. It is pretty reliable, no major issue but when we had the outage for 9 plus days after the earthquakes  the hot spot allowed me to continue working .  Arecibo/ Hatillo has several  really good private schools that are reasonable, low tuition, low payments  you may want to check into vs home school. My son attend and graduated with honors from a private high school here and he is not bilingual. Message me if you need details on the schools or have general questions about the area. .
