This is a great question.  General home insurance can be expensive and since most homes are block and cement construction not much is going to fall down or burn up.  So most do not insure their houses.

However as a renter that sheds a different light.  On our condo rental unit we carry liability and content insurance only.  This runs about $160 a year and we think with renters in the unit well worth the cost.

Hope this answers your question.

Thanks again Bob!...and if it floods up where we are, then we ALL have problems!
We will look into content and liability for sure when we are there.
Any suggestions to who to see for insurance?

We do ours through Amber Guardian in Sosua. They work with multiple companies so they can compare rates for you.

You also should not have any bad flooding problems in Lomas as it is on the hillside unless you have a low lying property with poor drainage.
