From my perspective, illustrates need to ensure one is in compliance with the DR'S various immigration laws

I don't understand the mindset of those that overstay visas.  The uncertainty over one's status and ability to leave/return would significantly impair my ability to enjoy the lifestyle.

@Íæż½ã½ãRusher.  I completely agree. We have waited in our home country for approval as tempting as it was to come early and pay a penalty.

This story is exactly why we tried to follow everything to the letter of the law. Imagine putting down roots, signing contracts, buying assets and the country determining that we didn’t respect their rules and it putting in jeopardy everything we started to embed.  We feel it’s important to show respect for their ways even if sometimes we don’t understand. We don’t like it when people come to our country and don’t follow the process.

While this is one story and we don't know what the reason is, it appears to be the overstay. 

We should all be paying attention.

Is this person a national or where does he have citizenship?    Obviously there is a reason but why they keep asking him to try again seems odd too, without an explanation.
