I lived several years in Puerto Plata. I like that it's a small city with all the services you need without the major traffic issues in big cities here.聽 There are a good number of expats and the city relies on tourism so you will find a fair number of English speakers. There is lots to do in the area but you can also do nothing quite nicely!

Hi bill , I live in puerto plata and I like it here , yer don鈥檛 see the crime here like that of the big city, and a lot of less tourists,

the traffic has increased in the last couple of years , but I think that鈥檚 because there鈥檚 only 2 lanes in both directions and the area has seen an increase in the population, I鈥檝e noticed a big increase in construction , condos- apartments, some are priced reasonably and some are not, you have to do your homework on it , I live in a private house in Atlanta and find it very safe and quiet, I go all ( drive ) over the city and feel safe nobody bothers yer , now I don鈥檛 know about the night life, I鈥檓 sure there are bars open late but I myself don鈥檛 get involved with that 鈥�they have some nice resorts here @ playa Dorada, but you won鈥檛 get the real feel of town staying there, yer be better off along the聽 boulevard across from the beach ,
