Are you living in the British virgin islands? We need you to share your experience of the local customs

Is it difficult to adjust to the local customs in the British virgin islands?

Could you please share with us a list of the do's and don't's in the British virgin islands?

Do:
Be relaxed.
Be patient.
Get used to bureaucracy - this place thrives on it.
Join a club, such as the Yacht Club (you don't have to sail, or own a boat), or the Sports Club, Or a gym.聽 Great way to meet people.
Remember to use sunscreen

Don't:
Be rude.
Expect things to happen quickly.
Get cross
Think that you're gods gift to the BVI.聽 You're probably not.!
Expect the world to beat a path to your door - we're used to people being here today and gone tomorrow, so many "old Tortola hands" are reluctant to engage with new people.
Take yourself too quickly.

Great post above - just a few others...

Do:
Say "good morning" "good afternoon" or "good night" before you begin to speak to someone.聽 (It's considered rude to just begin a conversation or ask a question without greeting the person properly.)

Don't:
Expect things to move quickly, especially when it comes to the red tape involved in the process of immigration, work permit applications, etc...

Act like your the the first person to experience this island through expat eyes - they've seen a LOT of us come and go!
