I moved here over two years ago and have honestly never felt like a foreigner a day I've been here-I now call Belize my home, not the U.S. Maybe it's because I made a point of befriending the locals, learning and accepting their culture, and always respecting their customs.

Can't tell you how many expats I see and hear complaining, right in front of the locals, mind you, about the way things are done here. I shake my head and wonder why they moved in the first place if they wanted things the same as back home. And then they're surprised when the locals don't welcome them with open arms - no one likes a whiner!

Come here and join in, don't isolate yourself, and you will find the locals warm, helpful, and inviting - they will not treat you any differently than they do each other.
