QRP...help, please :)

BelizeBound2014

Hi ~
We're looking to relocate to Belize when my husband retires from the military.  He can retire at anytime, but we want to move through the QRP program, so it will be mid-2013.  Most information I locate on Belize is atleast a few yers old, except mag. articles. I've searched everywhere online and can't find out if we can start the QRP process prior to his 45th birthday or have to actually wait.  His retirement date will depend on when we can actually leave for Belize as we have to coordinate our final move (with military shipping of our belongings), us physically getting there and having a rental to take delivery of our household goods at.

Does someone actually know the answer?

BelizeBound2014 - this is why I created my relocation consulting business, because so much of the info on the internet is old, incorrect, or impossible to find.

You must be 45 years old to qualify for the program, and since you can't qualify without first applying, you therefore must be 45 when you apply.

I went through the QRP myself, so I hope that helps.

I have another question on QRP as well--it says you need to show you can invest 2000 monthly into an account.  Does that mean forever?  Can you show and then put a larger amount in an not worry about chucking in 2k a month?  The wording on their website isn't really specific.

Loserguurl1,  I do know for the QRP they will consider lump sum amounts in bank accounts. If they feel it is a large enough amount for you to live here self-sufficiently, then the $2000 rule can be waived.  However, as long as you are in the QRP, you annually need to prove you have $2000 a month, or an adequate bank account. Hope that helps.
