YOu can get 3 month tourist visa, renewed twice in country, that gives you 9 months before doing a visa-run. Got to Cambodia and you can pick up 6 month and 12month visa there usualy without issues.

You can actually get a 3 year Residency Card if you are planning to stay her for a long period. You should go to a company called Alien Consulting, 10 Nguyen Thien Thuat Street. alien-consulting.vn 01-26244 6244

They have been established for a few years and are a one-stop shop for expats who need legal documents including Residency Cards, Work Permits, Company Formation and Business Licenses, Driver's License etc.

They are specialists in obtaining legal documents for foreigners and have multi-lingual staff that speak English, Vietnamese, Russian and French. I did all of my papers with them (residency card and setting up a company), and I was very happy with their prices and the level of service they provided. They took all of the hassle out of getting my documents.
