Groceries western style

Hey y'all,

I've been living here in HCMC for 4 months.

Been trying all kinds of food and trying to keep my kitchen as varied as a single guy can ;-)

I know maybe i sound a little weird for asking this but.

Where could i find:

- non sweet (most breads here are sweet like) normal western style hot-dog bread?
- sausages Western style
- normal bread - (non sweet also)

Just a general idea of where i might find western products like these or other would be helpful to me.

Hi Cigar,

Well I'm up here in Hanoi, so I'll speak from experience here. I've found that there is always a foreigners community in the city, and around that area you'll find lots of western and international style stores and restaurants including grocery stores. If you have a district like that in HCM City, check that out. There are also grocery/convenience stores such as Fivimart, Big C, Metro, uh..Intimex, all of these are designed for foreigners and middle/upper class Vietnamese. So ask around!

I'm not that good of a cook so I will try not to poison myself :-P

I've gone to Big C but haven't been able to find good hot dog bread but I am on the lookout for these communities and good places to buy foreign groceries.

The Circle K on Bui Vein has hot dogs.聽 Go there and ask where they get the buns.

i dont know about hot dog bread, but for a good selection of great fresh bread, try Schneider bakery, 27 Han Thuyen street (just by the side of the notre dame cathedral. great selecion of german breads, cakes etc.
