Boy do you have an eye-opening experience in your future

:D
Better you should write an article if you have this much sweet experience!

ameet4luan

You are right YULI that I have never came to Vietnam.
But I have few friends from there and their helping nature and politeness really impressed me . That's why I wrote that post for them .
And about "standing in a line" is problem for every developing country with large population . And I live in India , where there is line for everything , even buying a movie ticket or travelling is public transport . or getting job. So that's not a problem if you learn to smile even in Hell ..
I shared what I felt and I really love them. And when I will come to Vietnam (probably soon) , even if they abuse , I have courage to smile back on them . We know to respect and I believe I will get respect too :)

Lot about the greatness of character represented by smilng.

Wait till you tell your neighbor your dog got stolen for meat so some peasant could get beer money and your neighbor thinks that's a riot.

Ha ha ha ha.

Smile.

Let's talk more then.

Guest2023

Hahaha, you are making quotes about a country you have never been to.

You're right. Maybe, the Vietnamese people isn't all friendly and polite. But i'm sure just some of them are unpolite or something like that. If you're lucky to meet friendly people, you'll have impressing feeling about them and love the country there. Thank you for your post @ameet4luan. I hope you'll soon have chance to travel Vietnam. That's so great to enjoy wild jungles, fantastic street food,.... :)

I'm Chinese, and I think in some ways, Vietnamese people think and act similarly because our cultures have some shared aspects.

Chinese people are only polite and friendly if they think of you as a member of their "tribe." If you have mutual friends, have some social, political, or economic advantage or authority over them, or are a family member -- no matter how distant, or related by blood, marriage, or adoption -- or family friend, Chinese people will roll out the red carpet for you. If you're a complete stranger on the street, the most they'll do for you is try to avoid bumping into you, not for your sake, but for their own.

All of my Vietnamese friends are wonderful people and have been so helpful and kind to me. However, I don't expect complete strangers to go out of their way to be nice to me. That's just realistic.

What's a joke hahaha. Some guys maybe come from westen country seem not to be used to vietnamese culture and don't feel please to live in vietnam at all. Why don't you go back to your country where you  feel happier (good for you and for vietnameses, too) .
@ameet4luan : wellcome to VN, if you treat people with your respect, you will recieve much more respect from them.

Well said, your exactly right, everyone has an opinion. Just because Thiery doesnt agree he doesnt have to say go back to your home country, thats starting to get a bit old and tiresome. If people cant accept what others write, then that is also their choice, but leave the "go back home" out of it.

If what is described is truly Vietnamese culture like you say, then why tell others to leave "your" country that they point it out? :) Every country has pros and cons, please do not expect people to say Vietnam is perfect, you'll only be letting yourself down. I think the agitation people have with OP's OP is that he makes ASSumptions based on some online friends and has never been here. :)

What do you mean by kidding? Talking about a nation's characteristics is not a topic for joke especially when you are living on thier land. being a vietnamese i feel you'r  impolite to say so.

Thiery Henrry

it's so strange when someone make joke and the others  played along. you are all have righ to say your views but let be please polite first.

Well thats why I said you dont like criticism, if you are not open to seeing how others view things then maybe you can keep a closed mind.

Guest2023

Yes,maybe he just doesnt see the things others do. I know when Im home in Australia I complain about things that are wrong, so whats the difference here. I think he is doing the old..... Ive adjusted better to Viet Nam then you syndrome.
