Pollution in Vietnam

tvkk42

Hello expats,

I'm considering moving back to Vietnam. Just wonder how everyone finds the pollution level (air pollution, water pollution, food contamination) these days (especially in Saigon and Hanoi) because I hear a lot of people complain about it .

Thanks for sharing!

You'll be fine. You are more likely killed in a traffic accident or a mugging before the polllutants get you.

The pollution and dust count is getting worse in Saigon. I will be leaving Saigon due to the air quality,  much nicer lifestyle in the smaller cities.

Da Nang has a nice ocean breeze that clears the air pollution but it's a trade off between air and water pollution as that infamous steel mill is not far further up north.

The air pollution is nowhere near as bad as Beijing, I was there during that smog crisis when the locals hadn't seen the sun for weeks and I remember after my first day, my nostrils and bogies were all black.

If you're worried about air pollution get a descent mask before you go. The ones they sell by the road side are useless.

Dunno.   Even outa town & down on the farm(s), the clearing and
forest burning is getting worse.    Wish there was somewhere better?

Haven't found Utopia (yet).     I'll keep looking.   But if I find it, I ain't
gonna tell anyone.   Last thing I want is Tourists and Íæż½ã½ãs polluting

November in  countryside Khanh Hoa Province is what I call "The season of smoke", due to burning off rice stubble and stalks. There must be something better to do with it. Any suggestions?
