Peaceful country, many kinds of food, easy to get job, good weather... Welcome to our country

Life in Vietnam is different from Western countries, some foreigners said there are so many stupid things here, people are so noisy, many are not uneducated... Many people here don't think about long term in any fields. Stealing is everywhere whenever you are not careful to look after your stuffs. The air is dirty.
But it is cheap here if you stay away from D1 and tourist areas. Life is not so pressure because you can earn money easily. If you meet some educated people, they are quite helpful, but not easy.

What is D1?

D1 - District 1, Saigon. It includes the city centre and the main backpacker area around Bui Vien Street.

I agree entirely. I guess it would be interesting to get some  feedback here about the "Playing field".

Since your profile WilliambCrawfor says "australian would like to move to vietnam",  then "different" is an understatement. You have to be a person who really desires different to be happy here. Someone who is open minded and can see silver linings, with a sense of humor. If you are retirement aged, there are SEA countries who encourage expats to retire there, like Malaysia, Philippines, Thailand. You will have less culture shock there too. Or consider Bali and Singapore, but expect sticker shock instead. If you are working age, it is difficult to find any jobs besides teaching English, or online working for a Western pay scale country. You have to visit before you get too attached to the idea of moving anywhere. Search this forum for specific questions.
