TRC early renewal

Earlyant

My TRC runs out in November and I need to return back to the UK to do some things in August which does not give me much time there if I need to renew in November.

I have heard that you can renew at anytime? Is this the case? And, do I need to show the same documents and haveآ  some copies of them stamped at the local police station?

And, would the police be happy about doing that in June/July when the TRC does not expire until November?

Thanks for any help and guidance.

@Earlyant

What kind of TRC do you have? Family, work, investor?آ  Normally the "renewal" should requested between 5 to 45 days before expiring . Also you need to check the expirities in your other documents (passport 1 year, work permit, etc)

We (My wife and I) have made a concerted effort to be very connected with our local committee person and our local police officer representative.

I have no doubt that if I wanted this question answered, that's where I would go to get the best info.

Having said that, after July 1st there are big changes coming with foreigners being required to have their own confirmed VNeID listing that will be good for the app (apparently quite similar to what we were doing during COVID).

Also, My wife has now been able to list me legally as her spouse in her VNeID profile.

I'm sharing this because, after checking with my local policeman, I was directed to contact local (provincial city) immigration here in ؤگأ  Nل؛µng, who has told us that when I need to have my spousal TRC renewed in September, we should do it online.

But please keep in mind that TRCs are still subject to provincial rules which may differ from place to place.

Thus my initial suggestion that you check with your local authorities about specific requirements in your area.

Good luck!

Can only speak about my own experiences, which I'd firstly classify as very inconsistent, changing all the time, depending on what's happening on a national basis but also where you're at, who you are, what your reason is.

In my case, my TRC is up for renewal mid July (next month) and I asked my HR guys if they could do it sooner. Although I'm married to a VNese, I've been on a TRC combined with WP through my employer. However, this time, they said nope, cannot do it sooner. But that's due to also having to renew or re-apply for new WP.

Maybe it's different if it's not for work, only by status of being married to a VNese, with the purpose of living together.

@ OceanBeach (quote: My wife has now been able to list me legally as her spouse in her VNeID profile), interesting, I'll have my wife look into that next. Had a real headache recently to get my daughter listed, as we had to renew her VN passport. The local blokes in HCM refused to add her due to not having a FULL Vietnamese Name, and moreover, a FOREIGN Family Name, while she already held a Viet passport with those names (as well as on her VN birth certificate, issued in HCM, where she was born!)! Had to be done "manually" to get her listed on VNeID, at the province home town / place of birth of my wife. They requested to have all docs legally transferred from province to HCM. Had to get all sorts of papers done, translated, notarized, certified, and decorated with lots of big red round rubber legalizing stamps, just crazy! Took several month, 3 or 4 trips to the province and around 4mil official fees to get that passport! But, now the wife's data is registered on VNeID in HCM and they finally listed my daughter as a real VN citizen with a foreign name too.آ

Heard that lots of Viet Kieus have huge trouble with their passport renewals too. But I guess it's probably just some type of transition issue. What I don't get, is why it seems to be different from place to place and that nobody seems to know how it's done elsewhere.آ  آ

Hope it all gets organized, optimized and clarified as time goes on.

But then again.......آ

Yes, we also had a good relationship with the local police office and the officers who dealt with foreigners.

But, recently all the sub district police stations in Hoc Mon district, Tan Hiep, etc have been merged into one huge station in Hoc Mon centre. The result being all those officers we had a good relationship with have sadly lost their jobs. and, we and all VN people, too, will now need to go to that station in Hoc Mon centre.

Thx for the update on the requirements.

@ajairon

It's a family (spouse) TRC.

Don't forget to count the pages left in it.

Fortunately--largely through my encouragement--we have zero problems giving our local ؤگأ  Nل؛µng policeman some coffee money when he helps us out with difficult tasks.

We told him what my wife was trying to do (in advance preparation for my next TRC) and he actually called Quل؛£ng Ngأ£i; her hometown where we were married and where my Vietnam residences is formerly registered.

Within half an hour, The police in Quل؛£ng Ngأ£i had made the update and there was my LAST FIRST MIDDLE name in the appropriate place on her VNeID app
