Moving to Thailand

Midaz

Hi everyone,

My name is Michael, Aussie citizen of mixed heritage looking to move and live in Thailand in early January 2026. Obviously have put some funds aside for this new adventure but looking to connect in this community to hopefully make friends and find any job opportunities that may arise allowing me to stay long term in Thailand or South East Asia.

Regards

Hi Michael,

Which part of Thailand are you thinking?

Bangkok

*Bangkok has the most opportunities although depending on what industry you are looking at you can also look at Phuket, Rayong, Pattaya.

Maybe Chiang Mai also, I expect others can advise based on your industry - what industry are you in?

A lot of manufacturing in Rayong for example I

*I believe.

hi David,

Looking to travel around the issan area first then possible settling in hua hin.  Nothing concrete yet I know issan areas are potentially a lot cheaper areas to live but I like the idea of beach and mountain landscape and hua hin seems to have both and not too touristy.  Where are you located?

@daviddomoney

Currently working in social support but have a history working in security and landscaping. I heard very difficult to gain employment in Thailand if you dont have high education or high skills in tech or other similar industries. So for me possible remote work, doing courses in either english teaching, diving instructor or hospitality but open to any ideas from this community.

Isnt it difficult to work in manufacturing if your a expat?
