I'm 79 yrs old Been in Penang for 12+ yrs Its changing lots not for the better, I'd considered the Hui Hin area as an alternative, see some posters on U Tube suggest Self Insurance, also I'm well over the monthly $$ income and or 800,000Bht requirement.

Useful honest advice appreciated, Tq.

The meaning of being self insured is simply paying for every treatment yourself. It works if you're in good health, but it can be quite expensive if s**t happens if you get my drift.

I am self-insured. I find that my medical costs in Thailand are comparable to my very small deductible in the US. I am probably in the same financial category as you.
