GuestPoster1610

Hi there, I am a national of ASEAN country. Does anyone know if we can extend or STVP after EP cancellation without employer support?

No, you can't. Only the employer can.

This is a great post. But @beppi after EP cancellation, the Employer has no formal relationship with the Employee so would they be in a position to extend the STVP in such cases? Or would the Employee need to get any such extension done themselves? Appreciate your thoughts.

The post-EP-cancellation STVP is (like the EP, too) issued by MoM on request of the employer. Only the employer can thus apply to MoM to change it. But extensions are seldom given anyway.

If the employee wants to stay longer for reasons unconnected to the previous employment, then he/she would have to get a separate STVP on his/her own merit - in this case ICA is the authority in charge.

Thank you @Beppi for your reply. This is well noted. So for getting a separate STVP on our own merit, can we apply for such STVP while physically being here in Singapore during the time the MOM-issued STVP is active?

I do not think so, but better confirm with ICA!

Thanks @Beppi!
