Disability Benefits

Mikelopez321867

So I'm Mike 43 from Boston. 18 months ago I had major stroke and I'm working to get disability benefits (SSDI and SSI). I have been to the Philippines twice (2015 and 2019) and I'm planning to move to Davao the end of 2024. My disability benefits will be average about $2000  a month for life. Is that going to be enough to live?

Welcome Mike, best of luck in your getting the SSDI, can take a while sometimes.  The cost of living has increased somewhat since 2019, but the exchange rate has gone up also helping to offset inflation.  I would think your biggest variable would be what kind of health insurance you could receive.  It may be to your benefit to be a USA military veteran.

Much will depend on whether you shack up with a ’high maintenance’ woman

I think you will be fine with 2k per month if you can get reasonably priced medical insurance. Having a stroke at a fairly young age may bump up your monthly payments.
