EVA air heads up

Prince James

Booked a couple flights a few months ago FLL to Taiwan.  Few weeks later got a notice one flight was changed by 15 min and I needed to reorder my meals. So how many times will they change the times, will wait until a couple days before flight and reorder.  Flight is 12 days away so go to website to reorder meals.

Sorry cannot do on website must call.   OK call, no answer, call no answer, call, sorry closed for weekend. Call answered, hang up on and on and on!   Finally get through, reorder meals no problem.  Then very sorry sir but return leg from LAX to FLL is cancelled.  Wanted me to cancel whole flight.  Flight is next week Tue 7 days away I do not want to start looking for flight for reasonable price with decent connections.

So I stuck to my guns about not cancelling and the lady was very polite and stayed on the phone with me for about an hour.   They would not let me fly from Taiwan and cancel rest of flight. From LAX I could take a train, rent a car, find a flight, I would have no issue with doing that.    Now routed TPE to LAX TO NYC to FLL with long layovers.

So if they tell you to reorder meals get to them quick.

Flying from New York to Manila most recently we have used Korea Air, a one stop flight with 2hour 30 minutes layover in Korea.  The only cheaper flight was Saudi with a 6 hour layover in Saudi Arabia.

Frustrating for you PJ. My neighbour is flying out to Dumaguete this coming Sunday from London Heathrow with Saudia Airlines. 3 hour layover in Jeddah ( good) and arriving in Manila at 13.40 (T1) for a connecting flight with Cebu Pacific to Dumaguete.

Received an email from CP a few days ago stating that the flight from Ninoy Aquino (T3) has been brought forward 1.5 hours to 4pm. Because they are flying into T1 that would definitely not work ( "Your mission Jim, should you choose to accept it, is to make the connection and not miss your flight" ) Needless to say my neighbour deferred and is now taking the 7.30pm flight that day. A 6 hour layover after travelling for about 20 hours with jetlag thrown in. Ouch.

As he is flying out of T3 I suggested he use 'Runway Manila' (T3's best kept secret) to exit from the building via a side entrance on the 4th floor (food court) which takes them behind the Belmont hotel and subsequently onto the main street with shops and restaurants . I've stayed at the Belmont before. Excellent service with a rooftop pool and restaurant overlooking the airport. My neighbour who is with his Filipina wife and 16 year old son will avail of this facility. They will store their luggage in the short stay luggage centre in the arrivals hall of T3 P200 per 3 hours.

Never flown Eva Air but always heard good reviews hitherto. Time for a change?
