Hi Bharadwaj,

Congratulation for your new job,
Though I am very new here, still would love to reply to your questions ,if it might be of any help to you.

4500 RM is a decent salary in KL,but nowt a very good one.
Survival would not be a problem if u rent a shared accommodation ,may be.
Savings, I am afraid, may not be great, still you would be able to save after the initial settlement is done.
Not much aware of part time jobs ,so no comments on this.

Thanks,

Gravitas

Are you sure this is not a job scam?  I don't understand why ASTRO would employ people from outside Malaysia as there are plenty of candidates in the country.

The salary is far too high for the job description and title - that is why it sounds a bit strange.  Have you been asked to pay any money to the agency or for a work permit/accommodation/hotel?  If so, that would settle the matter.

The process would be for them to send approval for your recruitment to one of the Malaysian embassies in India and they would issue you with a stamp in your passport so you can board the plane. The actual visa would be provided when you arrived in Malaysia.

If you look at their adverts, they say candidates HAVE to be Malaysian citizens or permanent residents.

Sorry.

Thank You #PayeIk

the salary is very low for an expat. I agreed with Gravitas. It sounds like scam. Malaysian Junior EE will be paid around RM3.5k .

# Gravitas ..Thnx for ur reply and suggestions...Yes They asked to pay 2,00,000 INR to consulancy for VISA process,1 month accomodation & Employeement card . 1 week back 20 members batch has gone through same proceedure and we enquired about details . We go +ve response from them .

Gravitas

Wow - that's terrible news. I hope you have not parted with any money yet, as there is no such thing as an employment card. Did they tell you about the batch of 20 or have you met them?

Bharadwaj

#Gravitas
No ..Still I didn't go through any money process..Consultancy said that if we go through 'Visiting Visa' we are able to live only for 1 month ..& in that period they said that they will arrange Employeement card and extend visa for 1 year.
Did not met any Batch students but we had conversation on mobile ..that's it ..
Consultancy which is hiring in Hyderabad is IDEQA Consultancy solutions..

If you Google part of their Linked-In profile you can see it has been picked up by a lot of other "HR recruiters":

We are a team of dedicated professionals offering services all across global markets. We strive to exceed the expectations

Gravitas

Did you see another guy has posted about an ASTRO job on the forum today as well...... Work out the "incidence of coincidence". It is under: hiiiiiiiii every1

Perhaps you can compare notes with him.  Coming on a tourist visa is a dangerous way to find out there is no job.  You need to do much more research and see who is behind this offer.

The "real" company is involved in IT:

Contact them to check out the ASTRO jobs, but be careful there is not a complete web of deception. I guess you have been corresponding over a g-mail account?

Did you apply for the job or were you headhunted?
How were you interviewed and how many interviews and with who?
How long after the interview did you receive the offer?

The website is odd - although there are icons to link to Facebook etc. at the bottom left - they do not work.
