Hi fellow expats in Malaysia!

I guess for many of you the current situation has crushed this year's travel plans.

My husband and I had planned to visit my family in Germany for Christmas. However, we had to put these plans on hold, because my husband as a Malaysian national would probably have to undergo a quarantine, if he's allowed to enter Germany at all, and I myself could run into problems if the RMCO is extended further after the 31. December 2020 (which is highly likely to happen).

After all the staying at home during MCO and CMCO and with all the worries and anxiety this pandemic has caused, we are really in need of a break and are planning to go on a small holiday within Malaysia. As my husband and I are both tour guides in Borneo (or at least that was our job before the pandemic hit) and know the Malaysian part of Borneo in and out, we are looking for a nice destination in Peninsular Malaysia. We would be thankful for some recommendations and could happily offer to share our knowledge about traveling in Borneo in return!

I'm looking forward to hear your opinions!

Hi Nicki,

Don't give up on Borneo yet until you've visited the coastal side of Kota Belud particularly THE HAVEN BEACHFRONT CHALETS.聽 All the previous International tourists would agree it's a hidden gem tucked away in a bay with no roads, electricity or water supply from the government.

Take a 5 min boat ride or a 10 min hike along the coastline while enjoying the scenic views in order to get there. Once there enjoy being close to nature with the natural mountain spring water and solar enery. Enjoy snorkeling around the coral reefs just off the beach, explore the nearby Pandan-pandan Island or just soak in the sun on the private beach. I have been to Kota Belud, Kudat and the Tip of Borneo a few years ago. It's a nice area.
But it's not quite what I'm looking for. Living in Sarawak means I get to enjoy "tucked away" places without electricity and proper water supply often enough. ;-)

Any other suggestions?
