Hi guys,
My partner and I just moved to KL from Sydney and we are looking to meet up with some like minded people and make some new friends here!
There is a big rugby league match on being played in Brisbane Australia tonight, state of origin, not sure if people are familiar, anyone keen to join us at a pub and watch it tonight?
Kick off would be 6:15pm local time KL, not 100% sure which pub yet (open to suggestions).
A bit about us:
Me: 27 years old, keen on sport, internet startups, outdoor activities, travelling, exploring, hanging out at pubs (not so much clubs anymore!)
Partner: 29 years old, all things literature, reading, wine, music, socialising, keen to see more of Asia, bit of a foody, film festivals and more
We are a bit of yin and yang couple which makes it great as it mean's you at least get a long famously with one of us
Not sure how busy this forum is but if anyone is keen to meet up with a couple of kiwis (last 3 years residing in Sydney Australia) let us know.
Cheers
This is the most hilarious thread.
Thanks to Troy Ventures for doing it right! Thats the way! Anyone can organize anything, just state the time, date, activity, venue and announce it as the host--preferably in a separate thread so that the title can be the announcement. Whoever can make it will be there and thats it! Stop just saying "oh yeah id like to meet new friends" over and over and over again.
If you move over to the Saigon forum, you will see how they do it, they have regular, ongoing and successful meetups. They also post pics afterwards to recap events.
And by the way I like Troy Ventures activity menu, thats really good. Previously I posted that 10 years ago meetups in KL regularly brought in 100-150 people each time. They had meetups for every taste and type of activity--pot luck dinners, cart riding, dancing, hiking--and it happened because just ONE person took the initiative to host and organize it. Dont rely on the next person to do it, YOU do it.
Im not in KL so I cant do anything but thanks for Troy Ventures for making the stab at it!
I am moving with my daughter to KL in August. Will need friends and help.

I would like to join this meetup too. Possible to RSVP for 2 pax now?
Hi Guys,
Due to only less than 10 people RSVPing to me, the meet up is still on-going but, I have decided to change the venue. The reason why I am choosing this place(The Tea Republic, Bangsar Shopping Centre) is because I am able to book a casual cozy corner, relaxing enough for us to have our discussion over tea/ coffee. Below are the details:
Venue: The Tea Republic, S132, 2nd Floor, Bangsar Shopping Centre
Date: 1/8/2015 (Sat)
Time: 2.00pm-5.00pm
Objective:
1) Social Event
2) Networking
Plus:
a) Icebreaker games/
b) Q&A Sessions

Cheers. See you there.
Hi Troy,
Noted. See you guys soon
Hi Guys,

Can i join too.
Im just curious, how does a banned member post? Or does banned mean something else?
Troy, nice to see you picking up speed with your meet. Id like to do the same in Penang when I can identify expats here in the blog. I think Im the only one?
Oh dear cvco! Thanks for the highlight about the "banned" member! Hmmmm...this does not sound good. I hope it will not disrupt the well-intended meeting.
cvco, just do it! even if only 1 person respond, it doesn't matter...you never know...quality over quantity?
Troy....yes quality over quantity.....unless that one is the banned member? lolol that made me laugh. Anyway I did think it odd that a banned member can continue to post. Weird.
I recall a few members asking about Penang but i dont actually know of any members living here. But thats probably my fault because I havent paid attention. Maybe there are tens of thousands.
Again I recommend you and others take a look at the Meet posts in the Saigon section to see how they succeed at this.
I wish you good luck and hope it grows to 200 people soon. You'll figure out the magic mix of time/venue/activities and it will work
Hello everyone,
I am so looking forward to meet you tomorrow.
The corner which I have reserved is able to accommodate 18pax maximum. The outlet itself can accommodate 26pax. So far 15people has RSVP-ed. I have reserved a table for those of you who are bringing kid(s). The area for the children is not barricaded but within eye-sight. I have a few coloring print outs and pencils to keep them occupied (for a short time).
How to get get to The Tea Republic outlet. From the main lobby (facing main road Jalan Maarof), go up 2 floors via escalator, turn left at the aisle heading to the west wing, you will see a cake shop Just Heavenly on your right. Turn right and The Tea Republic is located at the far corner on the left.
