Depending upon the quality of the casket, burial vault and other merchandise selected, a traditional funeral and burial cost could be less than $5,000 or exceed $10,000. If no services to commemorate the deceased are desired, a direct burial or direct cremation can be arranged for under $1,000.

@JoeKhmer Joe any recommendations for making funeral arrangements pre death as no family here and no Embassy so I need to get all paperwork in order as I have funeral insurance but policy held in Australia but I am not Australian. Specifically pertaining to cremation with no repatriation of ashes

That's a difficult and sensitive question.

Try to get someone involved to arrange the cheapest cremation possible, cardboard casket, no memorabilia, just cheap.

It will still cost like $3000.

More important is to keep the police away from your properties.
They come to your house, take everything that is available and use it to have some extra money.

Talking about motorbike, phone, computer, TV, money, bank card, name it.

You could make up a will and have a executioner appointed.
Still police will take many things away before a executioner arrives.

I'm in the same situation and although I have a family, so I put my motorbike on my girlfriend name, give her access after my death to my bank card, phone, computer and more.

I doubt your insurance is of any use in Cambodia.

Cheers

Hi Joe

My partner's khmer mum died, she was cremated, close family at the funeral, then a party in the afternoon, with the ashes 100 days later put in the family burial crypt, the cost $5250 but the 50 guests all pay a donation to the proceedings depending on their means,
