Are Cambodians able/permitted to marry in Thailand
Hi all,
My partner (male cambodian) and I (British female) are both living in Thailand and wish to marry there. We’re both in our late 20’s.
We’ve heard so many different stories and what we really need to know is...
Can a Cambodian national marry in Thailand if they have already obtained their family book and single certificate and other documents?
From what I’ve read, I do understand that marrying outside Cambodia means that the marriage will not be recognised legally there. I understand all the legal procedures about marriage law in Thailand also - it’s just really if he is permitted to marry in Thailand.

Of course Cambodians can marry in another country, like Thailand.
After you return to Cambodia you have to register the marriage if you want it to be official.
You don't have to, you have a marriage certificate from Thailand.
But if kids are involved now or later you need an official registered Cambodian certificate.
It has been done before, so don't worry. Unless you or your husband have been involved in criminal activities, blacklisted of in some way not the "average" citizens, there should be no problem.

Ok, time to get ourselves married!!
Don't believe everything you hear, there are so many Cambodians that married in another country.

You will have to decide where [in what country] you want to get married, Thailand, Singapore and Hong Kong are quite popular in that respect.
Find yourself the regulations and paperwork needed on the embassy website of the country you choose and get it done.

Looks like I will marry my Cambodian lady in Hong Kong. If we decide to live in Cambodia ( versus the US )Â will the fact that I am a foreigner over 50 cause problems if we try to register our marriage in Cambodia?
