Here's another new arrival. Just came today to Tunis. I'm in. 😊

I have not found some of your experiences to be the same for me. I found most people ask me for more money for everything than everyone else around me. When I go to the LaMarsa market the scale always seems to be more than the person in front of me. When I go to the beach I have to pay 3 dinar and locals pay zero or 1. When I go to sit on a beach chair I pay 15 per person and locals pay 15 per family. When you have a car crash and locals get your car fixed fast so your husband does not find out it means they do not want you to receive corporal punishment for the embarrassment. Gardeners want 450 a month and the neighbors tell me no way do not pay it, it should be 200 - 300. When I arrive at Tunis airport I pay 40 dinar for a meter than reads 16 and they scream at me saying 24 extra for the 3 bags and special airport fee. When at the Carrefors at the beach and buy a wild Dorado they offer to clean it and put it in the sink and put a farm Dorado in the bag thinking I wont see the difference in color on its head. When I buy cheese they put the label on it for a more expensive cheese that is 5 TND more. When I bought gas with a gas card one time the man added 100 TND to the bill, I thought all the zero's were from the fact that 1 TND is 1000 Millem. A random man cut the bushes outside of my home and a week later demanded 50 TND for the work. The street sweeper woman never pick up any trash from the street, what do they do? I spoke to the official tourist representative at the airport and she said she knows all about the taxi problem and there is no answer. Many city taxi have charged me correctly then demanded a round up to 10TND for a 6 -10 TND ride. She also said she and all her friends are all trying to leave Tunisia for a better life.

The lady that takes care of my dog is very nice but I pay her very well and wonder what she really thinks?

Yes, Tunisians (having been here for a year and having married and divorced a Tunisian girl, and now living in Gammarth) are among the worst people (similar to Egyptians but far more cunning) but you will find some golden gems in rivers of dung

I agree, the character of almost every single person I meet is jaded and selfish. My couple of friends who speak Tunsi tell me I am fortunate not to speak arabic or tunsi because the way people speak to each other in public is without any form of respect for each other. He said they use profanity with every sentence very much like "dropping the F word" in English. He also said its weird how they lighten the poor language when I walk past them but I do not know why and he just laughs while we walk around Carfours. I have always been under the impression that the religion of the people would stop this type of language?
