Importing Car

Im confused with this....聽

I have a LHD Car, I have owned it for 18 months and I would love to keep it!!聽

Can I import it and will i need to pay duty on it as it is 'personal effects'.聽 I have seen some things that say LHD is impossible to import but when i am there, there are some cars that are..

Please help...

Yes you can import LHD car in Tz, I contacted my friend who works at TRA and he told me yes but you will have to pay excise duty and other charges

The duty and excise charges are horrendous.聽 How can these costs be the same as to what the car is worth.聽 Is there any relief because i have pre-owned it rather than just trying to make a fast buck!!

Hi.
I'm not really sure about the duty but LHD is good as a personal (non commercial) vehicle. LHD Commercial vehicles can be cleared through customs as "goods in transit" only as far as I know. You will NOT be licensed to operate a LHD commercial vehicle .
