Evenin all
I am a sparkie in UK at the minute but have a chance of a contract in PH for a yr maybe 2 ??? starting JAN 09 any advice ?? its working in the industrial area ? of PH how safe is it ? What to ask 4 hotel/driver/ etc ALL HELP much appreciated before the decision within the next couple of weeks

Oil companies give all their staff an armed escort. If you do not have one you run the risk of getting kidnapped. I moved to lagos from PH 2 years ago. You have to remember there is no infrastructure/ law and order anywhere in Nigeria. Police often have to be paid simply to be allowed to pass by. State Governors work with the "rebels" to ensure they get their cut.
Check There are contractors posting info info re latest shootings, kidnaps. Good luck.
