looking at immigrating to Mauritius

MishyC

Hi all,

Myself and my family are too, looking at immigrating to Mauritius.
I am self employed here in South Africa, however one of my clients have assured me that should we move, my work with them will continue as normal, as well as myself slotting into any additional adhoc work, within their already established Mauritian based company.

Having said all of that - work wise, it seems we are already one step closer. However, reading the latest posts regarding non-renewals - this now concerns me considerably.

Clearly being a newbie we won't know the correct people to deal with this. "It's not what you know - it's who you know".

What are your thoughts on this.

Michelle

Michelle - I dont have personal info, but the talk is that things have eased off and that the BOI is not being unreasonable. SO provided you have all the correct documents and things in place, you should not have a problem with permits. Sounds like it was a temporary "bad hair day". Someone correct me if I am wrong?

Thank you so much for your response.

I will bear that in mind when I contact DNR Consulting tomorrow - I have found them being mentioned in this forum.

From what I can make out - it seems that Port Louis would be where all the big Industrial sites will be situated. Am I correct in that statement?

The company I will be working closely is in Cyber City, Ebene. What would be the better areas to look in, for accomodation, bearing in mind, schools wise, we have a 9 yr old and a 14yr old.

Would appreciate any advise.

Thanks

Hi Michelle,

Welcome to Mauritius!!!

For your accomodation , I would suggest Tamarin as most of the South Africans live in that area. That too is not very far from Ebane. Since you are moving to a new country , you will not feel lost staying in that area.

Cheers!!
