Hello,

As aforementioned, you can contact Statistics Mauritius () or the 'Passport & Immigration Office of Mauritius.

There are 90,000 - 100,000 expats living in Mauritius.
This number include those on Occupation Permits (investors, professionals, self employed), those on work permits working in some specific sectors and also expat retirees.

The top 5 are Bangladeshis, Indians, French, South Africans and Chinese.
Then you have the Malagasy, Belgians, Italians, Brits and Germans.

The largest contingent on Occupation Permits is the French followed by South Africans.

Fascinating statistics (at least for me); would you able to kindly share how to go about getting the various expats statistics quoted above from the Statistics Website? I have had a quick look on this website and so far haven’t been able to work out how (website response for me is very slow) or is it a case of just contacting them and asking?

The stats I posted are not from Statistics Mauritius but some media sources. The figures might not correlate exactly but not far apart either.

Thank you. If the media sources are in a shareable format then I would be keen to have them if you are able to as they would assist me in being more informed on such matters in the future.
