Advice please : Do I need to have a return flight ?

Nathaliemariole

Hi

We will be moving to Mauritius in November, we have a house to rent for 1 year while I try to get my citizenship, I was born in the uk.

My father is Mauritian and lives in Mauritius.

I was born 2 weeks too late to automatically claim my citizenship so will need to apply to the court for it to be reinstated.

My question is about the flights we will be taking in November, Do I need to have a return flight or because I have a rental contract ( already signed and deposit paid ) am o ok to just get the one way ticket?

It will be me, my husband and 3 sons coming over.

We have emailed all the correct people to answer the questions but never get any real help.

Thank you

Nathalie

I would suggest you get a return booking in 2 months time. Travel agents may be able to help you. You will get a 60 days visa on arrival, which can be extended by a month.آ  Having read about administrative processes in Mauritius in this forum, somehow I do not think even 3 months will be enough to get everything else sorted out. BTW, what about your husband and children -- will they be allowed to stay for longer than 2 months?

Good luck, and keep us posted.

I am sure there will be others here also with good advice.

Thank you for your reply

when i visited in may they told me i was ok to stay while i was getting my citizenship sorted

if it comes to it we can also go down the premium visa route as i have earnings outside of mauritius.

I’m hoping that someone will email us back with some more info from the passport office.

I’ll keep you updated and thanks again for your help.
