There are a couple of good shops there now, particularly the new deli.
The deli mentioned here is well worth a visit. As you drive from Regatta / Dysfunction Junction, pass straight thru the next fecked up shaped roundabout to Siraj main street. The deli is on the left, on the corner of the second block. It has a 1970's stone cladding facia and the wood is painted limp green and pus yellow. Don't be put off by the tasteless exterior. And BTW there is a Gary Glitter tractor parked outside the front door.
The BIG draw for me about this place is that they stock Brazilian beef filet. Now, don't expect prime Aberdeen Angus here, the Braz is nowhere near as tender as AA and is a wee bit fattier, but that ain't bad as a good rib(less) roast. Also very good on the braai when the coals are low. Slice into 4-5cm steaks. Chuck plenty of mixed herbs on it and shallow fry in butter with a sliced clove of garlic for 5 mins a side for medium. Serve with Gordon Ramsay (see BBC Good Food web) chips and a mixed sidesald, and wash down with strong home brewed IPA or strong dark ale.
Hmmmmmm
