6 million questions ....

AAAfrica

I'm trying to write up a business plan to partner with a company and due to this have many questions.

I know Ghana and have been many times but the 'expat' side & legalities in Ghana are a new area for me.

First off, let me explain.  I will probably base myself in Accra and be working throughout the region, canvassing clients & setting up centres possibly in Ghana but certainly in other W.African countries.

I'm looking at staying 3-6months, travelling a lot but with an Accra base to use the internet, phone etc to work.  It may well be that the business won't have any operations in Ghana except for my work from home.

In this situation - will I need a work permit?  I have a long term multiple entry tourist visa already which grants me 90days at a time I think (will check)

What prices can I expect to pay for an apartment or small house (2bed) on the edge of Accra; am used to living in 'non'-expat conditions.  However I will need it to be furnished or part-furnished.  For this shorter term rental, would electricity & water etc be included normally or??  I know electricity prices just went up, anyone have an idea of what I might have to pay per month?

Any other legalities I should be aware of?

Is there an e-mail expat group online? Google or otherwise??

Thanks a lot for your help!

any work you do requires a work permit. establishing companies require certain amounts of capital as well as ghanaian partners.

double check before you do anything, if they get you doing business without permit, you are out faster than you can pack.
