hi, does anyone know about orfi marriage and can help me?

I have had an orfi for 1 year now. I researched and understood it is not legal but our intentions were to have the relationship and hoped eventually it would lead to marriage.

We have now both agreed to end the relationship but it seems our lawyer did what I have seen mentioned as a signiture authentication. I have a green certificate that we have shown hotels etc and I have only seen 1 copy of the orfi since we signed.

I want to see both copies and see them destroyed which he is refusing and a lawyer said I can make a case against him to divorce. Is that necessary? As I want to be free to move around Egypt without the fear of being someones 'wife' as I do have business to attend to in the country so need peace of mind.

I am aware that just leaving it is an option but not for me. Especially since when the lawyer took both copies, neither was returned. My partner showed me that he had a bundle of paperwork from the court and he says that it is finished but on video call I could not see it clearly or know what he was showing me.

I do not want 5 years later he comes out the woodwork!

Orfi marriage is not official one, he can't do anything with you, but for ur safety speak to one lawyer

Travelgirl85, I understand from your question that you both agree to end the relationship, And you want to make sure its over, and in the absence of the marriage contract copies with the lawyer, which I don't know why he kept with him, while he should give a copy to each of you!

Any way聽 If it is so, you can ask your ex. to declare he divorced you while two witnesses are attending that declaration and sign a divorce one along with the signature of the two witnesses on the very same paper.
