Cinema & films

SimCityAT

Just watched the 75th Golden Globe's. Is it me or are films coming out a lot faster these days than say 20 or 30 years ago?

I had only heard of a couple.... They do seem to be only around briefly then straight onto DVD.

I remember as a child they use to be so much hype around flicks and they were in the cinemas a lot longer than what they are now.

I think one of the main reason for this is the pressure placed upon production companies which not only have to ensure the movie wins over the audience but also needs to make sure the cost effectiveness involved in its production and how to make the most of it. Sometimes it doesn't work.

Geostorm which was one of the biggest flops at the box office in 2017, seems to be a perfect example. The movie aired in theatres in October last year and is set to be released on dvd on the 23th of January.
In my opinion its only a way to boost dvd sales in order to reduce the collateral damages while the "momentum" is still going on since the movie didn't generate enough revenue .

With disney and universal buying everything around I don't see changes anytime soon. It's just good business.

On a side note : How about Seth Meyer's opening monologue ?   :D  Always on point

Well they have to keep producing films to have enough works for people in production I guess. It doesn't mean faster producing is worse though, to me the movie making process now is  more effective and even better.
