Do the stores there have a good supply of frozen food items? by tereso5
I'm wondering about the grocery shopping in Costa Rica. I've never really learned how to cook & have relied on Marie Calendar & other brands for my meals. Do the stores there have a good supply of frozen food items? Thanks

No offense taken, by no means. Just educating expats that they're many options and unconventional solutions to every problem or need in Costa Rica. I'm not encouraging anyone to go this route, only sharing a little morsel of my knowledge and ... Read More

When I lived there full time, I never had to leave the country and work was no problem as long as my passport was current. There's ways around this that gringos don't know unless they're friends of ticos, speak the slang, emersed in the ... Read More

It's frozen food, how good is it really when it's frozen and not fresh? Buy fresh vegetables, meat and then freeze it. Normally we just buy enough for a few days and then go get more or freeze items. Much healthier and tastier. Read More

I'm married to a tica, permanent residence is easily acquired, but not necessary for me at this point given I come and go as I please and always leave every 3 months or sooner for my business affairs in the states. However my wife and family ... Read More

Why Many Íæż½ã½ãs Return to their Home Country by Íæż½ã½ãDave
I am often asked why Gringos return to their home countries so quickly after moving here. It is difficult to answer. My experience is that more often than not, it’s for the same reason(s). Failure to assimilate and failure to accept things ...

If you're a expat living in Costa Rica and are going to make it work, learn the language, the street language or pachuco. Unfortunately, we stand out as foreigners, they'll just see $ dollar bills. There's 2 prices in Costa. Tico price ... Read More

Not so much frozen food in the small pulperÃas, but your bigger grocery stores like pali, mega super, mas x menos will have such items. I learned that you go to the carniceria for fresh meat, verduria for fresh vegetables and fruit. ... Read More

Thanks for all the responses. I've lived in Costa Rica and know how the system works (or doesn't). Lots of expats are not getting first world service that is hard to find even in the states. Read More
