To meet Filipinos, you can visit one of those bars or restaurants offering KTV on Fri and/or Sat evenings. I'm not that familiar with the St. Gall area but in Zurich and Canton Aargau there are quite a few KTV venues. A Thai friend of mine goes to KTV venues almost every weekend, I accompany him only occasionally. If you want, I can give you his contact details.

i am also away from zurich it takes 1 hour by train from st.gallen to zurich.but anyway thanks for the information.he is thai is he can speak english bec. mostly thai cant speak english..actually people mostly here in st. gallen cant speak english.so for me its really hard to find here a friends...but anyway i like the place clean..and not pulluted.especially today spring is coming  not that cold and the weather is getting better.........

Dragonbay

yes, he speaks english and also german very well. my perception is rather the opposite: based on my experience in the cities of zurich, geneva, and the canton of aargau, i feel 95% of the population is at least conversant in engl. of course it depends on the type of people you meet and deal with. I'd say you can reasonably expect people going to KTV bars to speak good engl ;)
