Global Innovation Index: The 10 best countries

Published by the World Intellectual Property Organization, Cornell University, and INSEAD, the 2019 Global Innovation Index takes a thorough look at the global economy. It takes into account qualitative and quantitative data mainly of an economic and political nature divided into seven categories: institutions, human capital, infrastructure, modern financial markets, modern labor market, research and development and creativity. For each category, the countries are rated with a score of 1 to 100. We have looked through the report and bring you the 10 best countries for innovation.

Top 10 most innovative countries

While in North America, the United States comes out top of the ranking (ranked in the third position), it is European countries that take the lead of the Top 10 with Switzerland in first place and Sweden in second. Europe dominates the overall ranking with 7 countries in the top ten. Singapore is the only representative of Southeast Asia in this Top 10, ranking eighth and Israel comes in tenth.

If you are looking to move to an economically innovative country, here is a summary of the top 10 countries in this ranking:

Switzerland

Switzerland innovates in terms of patents, revenues from intellectual property, high technology manufactured products... It is also the country where the revenues are the highest.

Sweden

Sweden is notable for its developed infrastructure and innovation performance, with very high incomes.

The United States

The United States is the country of research and development with, in particular, the best scientific and technological centers, 26 of the world's top 100 are located there.

The Netherlands

The Netherlands ranks high thanks to the sophistication of its companies and institutions.

England

England is, in particular, recognized for the quality of its universities, its innovation in terms of human capital and research and its high income.

Finland

Finland is an example of the Patent Cooperation Treaty and is very advanced in terms of technological innovation.

Denmark

Denmark, which has gained a place in the ranking this year, has made progress in terms of infrastructure, technology and especially high-level education.

Singapore

Singapore stands out for its political and operational stability.

Germany

Germany offers the best logistic performance.

Israel

Israel has very good results in terms of innovation (exporting services in information and communication technologies) and in the development of mobile applications.
